  • Kuenselphodrang

  • Traditional handmade paper factory

    The traditional handmade paper factory where the old art of paper making still is vibrant.

  • The weekend farmers’ market

    The weekend farmers’ market (Friday-Sunday) is the largest in the country, where villagers from nearby valleys sell their farm produce.

  • Sangaygang

    Time & weather permitting: Take an easy hike at Sangaygang (1.5hr - 2hrs round-hike) overlooking Thimphu; and/or moderate hike to Cheri monastery up in the woods (30 minutes drive; 2.5 hours hike round-trip): Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel (first ruler /unifier of Bhutan) built this monastery in 1620 and established its first order of monks here.

  • Dochu La Pass (10,000 ft. elevation)

    The pass is located on the way to Punakha from Thimphu. On a clear day, one can enjoy 360 degree of beautiful panoramic view of Himalaya mountain range. The beauty of this place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyal Chortens-108 stupa built by the eldest Queen Mother Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck.

  • Thimphu Town

    While in town, you can also stop by the Bank and the Post Office (self-portrait stamp) - Max time: 1 hr angchuck, popularly known as the father of modern Bhutan.
